hi khrystene :)

On the Toruń talk page (en) there is:

Well, we can always NPOV it... Boud 15:49, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
NPOV? Que? khrystene

i'm not sure if you're (1) just ridiculing the absurdity of trying to NPOV advertising for McDonalds, or if (2) you haven't (yet) come across discussions of WP:NPOV in the wikipedia.

If (2), then i suggest you read about WP:NPOV. My idea here was, since i didn't have time to actually do a whole lot of work on the page and discuss it, that instead of removing the advertising for McDonalds, was to take the NPOV approach that some people claim that McDonalds is a fine place for children, while other people (such as Justice Bell in a UK Court of Law) claim that McDonalds exploits children. While personally i happen to agree with Justice Bell on this issue, that's my personal POV, and not relevant for the wikipedia (unless i've published that opinion somewhere in some respectable or notable publication which can be considered an external source of knowledge). But some people think that McDonald's is fine. So the NPOV approach is not to represent either claim as fact, but to present the uncontroversial fact that different groups make different claims. In practice, people wanting their point of view to dominate generally try to hide even the fact that other people make alternative claims. The NPOV mechanism in wikipedia in principle stops this method of publishing only one side of a controversy about facts.

All the same, removing the whole lot (i haven't checked who did this) is fine by me, fair dinkum :). In other words, if you're just ridiculing the absurdity of trying to NPOV advertising for McDonalds on wikipedia, well, i agree.

BTW, welcome to wikipedia and welcome to Toruń :).
