relevance of Polish partitions to this article

In the map caption "Law and Justice's main support (dark blue) is concentrated in the south-east of the country (former Russian Partition and Austrian Partition)...", the references to the Russian and Austrian partitions of Poland (in late 18th century) has little if any relevance to modern day Polish politics.
