[edit]- I contribute articles related to video games and to sports (a vast majority of those can be narrowed down to Nintendo-related and NFL-related). My current project can be found at User:Useight/NFL Project.
- Editing Wikipedia is a hobby of mine. Some people collect stamps, some people play Ultimate Frisbee; I edit Wikipedia. My two overarching objectives on Wikipedia are: 1) Improve the encyclopedia; and 2) Help others improve the encyclopedia.
- I contribute daily, often between 50 and 100 edits per day.
- A good article often has multiple reliable sources, excellent grammar and spelling, and some helpful and informative images. A bad article would have many opposite characteristics, such as very little prose and no sources.
- The "pros" of Wikipedia would include: 1) How quickly it is updated to reflect current information; 2) Anyone can edit, which generally helps eliminate bias; 3) It is quite extensive compared to traditional encyclopedias. The "cons" would include: 1) The introduction of vandalism and other misinformation purposefully inserted; and 2) The backlogs of work that needs to be done (few volunteers want to do some of this tedious work).
- I have a browser window open to Wikipedia virtually the entire time my computer is on (roughly 16 hours a day), I'm just not always sitting at it. When I am working on other stuff, I'm am consistently checking back on Wikipedia. The time I am sitting here solely focused on Wikipedia, constantly editing is probably limited to a couple of hours in one shot. All in all, I'm probably editing Wikipedia 20 hours a week.
