Speedy deletion contested - This is nothing more than a description or extention of Labrador Ventures on Wikipedia's list of Venture Capital Firms.Labradorvc 23:09, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Kimberlee Welch, Labrador Ventures, Webmaster

Hello,

Someone tagged this article for deletion, and on inspection I tend to agree: this article reads like promotional material and in fact appears to be taken straight from the company's own website. Regards, --Abu-Fool Danyal ibn Amir al-Makhiri 20:27, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with Labrador Ventures. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Stoic atarian 08:14, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Labrador Ventures, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Labrador Ventures is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:Labrador Ventures saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. --Prewitt81 19:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is confusing- What needs to be done to post this? Labradorvc 19:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Kimberlee[reply]

Hello Kimberlee. I'm sorry this has all been confusing. The concern is that it shouldn't be posted at all: the original version was lifted right from the company's own marketing, and the current version still reads like an advertisement, and is not backed up by any independant coverage of any sort. Furthermore you, the person posting it, are presumably a paid employee of the subject.
We have very strong traditions of neutrality, and so all in all, this will tend to get a very sceptical reaction. I hope you understand. Perhaps, instead, you could dig up some reports from business magazines on your company which can be referenced? As well, you might find that there are many articles on venture capital financing or the like that could use your input. --Abu-Fool Danyal ibn Amir al-Makhiri 20:05, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why then do the other Venture funds from the Venture Capital listing have similar pages? I tried to model it after those already listed after getting the first deletion message. Labradorvc 21:46, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tried rewording- Is that better now?Labradorvc 21:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You know, you're quite right. My short answer is: some of those articles can be referenced to external coverage, rather than just their own marketing. The rest should be tossed. And my best guess is they will be, once people start noticing them. Why some flew under the radar when yours didn't, I don't know. --Abu-Fool Danyal ibn Amir al-Makhiri 17:13, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously you have had some discussions with other editors already regarding notability etc. I will not propose the article for deletion right now, but suggest that you have a look at WP:Corp. This might help you to write the article in a Wikipedia compliant style. Cheers. Kai A. Simon 00:34, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
