[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. -- Rrburke (talk) 20:53, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Request reason:

I am seeking arbitration to remove a ban on user "landmobile". We have been blocked by user and Wikipedia admin "Orange Mike" without due process. I have made attempts to resolve this issue with this user to no avail. At issue he states, "Your account is in a collective entity's name, and was used to promote that entity. End of story." We, "the collective entity", are a requirement of the FCC. Per rule section 90.173, 90.179. We are certified by the Federal Communication Commission and are non-profit. Therefore, we have no commercial aspirations. We exist to inform end licensees and provide frequency coordination as mandated by the FCC. What are my options? The information that I can provide collective users on your site could be invaluable. Information regarding radios, spectrum, and new technology. My access to staff at the FCC and industry professionals would make my inclusion as a contributing member an asset. If made an edit that was not in keeping with the framework of Wikipedia I apologize. Is it possible to put landmobile on probation rather than an outright ban? David Smith Frequency Coordinator FIT

Decline reason:

It is a well established Wikipedia policy that accounts must represent individuals, not groups. Whether you are a corporation or a government agency or an NGO makes no difference. This is not a court of law we are in, these are the policies of this privately owned website. You mention your access to staff and industry pros. While I have no doubt that does give you an insider's perspective, all content on Wikipedia must be based on reliable sources as opposed to our own observations or original research. In short, this block has a solid base in Wikipedia policy and proper processes were followed. On the other hand you may be able to secure an unblock if you agree to change the name of the account so that it no longer represents an organization and agree to follow policy on editing with a conflict of interest, as was pointed out to you earlier. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I will stipulate that I will use this account as an individual. My edits will be, and always have been, based on "reliable" sources. None of the information I provide will be, or ever had been hearsay. I read and interpret FCC rules and regulations. I disseminate information on technology both new and old. I hope this will satisfy the holders of this private website.
