Too many PRODs

[edit]

Hi @LibStar, thanks for your work here. I think there have been too many PROD nominations in too short a time span. Looking at Special:Contributions/LibStar, I see 26 since 24 October and 53 since 16 October, or about 97 PRODs in total since the start of this month.

The issue I see with that many PRODs is that per WP:PRODNOM, alternatives to deletion must be considered before the PROD is made, including improving the article by editing it. In many cases, sources exist but they just need to be searched for and added by editing as required by WP:PRODNOM. For example see User talk:LibStar/Archive 13#Your PROD of Louise Butterworth where I pointed out this issue previously.

I agree with the issue of removing unsourced articles, but I think more care needs to be applied. Can you limit the amount to about 1 per day or apply further discretion to make sure the community has time to review? Thanks, --Habst (talk) 12:21, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1 per day is a ridiculous imposition. The

vast majority of those that I have prodded were created by user Lugnuts who went on a spree of creating questionable stubs until they were permanently banned. You or anyone else can remove prods. LibStar (talk) 12:27, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lugnuts created hundreds maybe thousands of sportspeople stubs. If I was limited to one prod per day it would take years to go through them all. I will continue to prod those of questionable notability. LibStar (talk) 12:35, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@LibStar, OK, I have no issue with making more than 1 PROD per day alone. The issue is that WP:PRODNOM says that ATD including improving the article by editing needs to be considered first, and just because an article is a WP:LUGSTUBS article doesn't mean that it the PRODNOM process can be bypassed. How about including a link to a relevant web search that proves no sources were found? Thanks, --Habst (talk) 12:53, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You or any editor can contest the prod with your own web search. Do not post on my talk page again. LibStar (talk) 12:55, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I saw you made some edits to this article which look like good faith improvements. As I explained on the talk page I felt the need to end a bitter series of reverts (one of the editors canvassed me in a few days ago).

I have made a bold rollback to a version from a month ago (edit battle started a week ago, but the page was pretty dormant). I'm reluctant to do anything substantive to the article right now as I'm anticipating some blowback from my revert. I hope you're OK with that. Oblivy (talk) 05:15, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I'll wait a while and make my non-controversial edits later. LibStar (talk) 05:36, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like they were already restored. Thanks for your understanding. Oblivy (talk) 06:44, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy. I pinged you at Talk:Seikan Tunnel but maybe you missed it. I am still awaiting a reply. Permalink: here Commander Keane (talk) 19:56, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
