A tag has been placed on Lights over paris requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- NathanoNL [ usr | msg | log ] 16:27, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding spam links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselve. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

If you do intend to make contributions that are in line with Wikipedia's policies, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information.

Request reason:

I had been blocked because WP said I had been "spamming," or trying to self-promote. To be honest I had accidentally posted 2 articles rather than 1, but in all fair, the musical group Lights Over Paris is very legitimate. The group has millions of hits on myspace music (15Million to be exact), working with world wide known artists, and has the largest budget of an independent artist in the past decade (2Million). The new Futureliner bus will change the way touring is done and I can go on and on. Nothing is spam and the article is genuine, as you can also see on Sean Beavans page (highly recognized producer), and mixing by the Lord-Alge brothers. I would really ask Wikipedia to take another look at this and see how serious this article really is and hope you can allow this change. Thank you so much! Sincerely, Robert Mawhinney 714-348-5917

Decline reason:

Note that it doesn't matter how legitimate the band is: you are an insider trying to promote it, which is why you are blocked. According to a quick web search, you are clearly affiliated with the band and in no position to be deciding if this material is in Wikipedia's best interests, since it is so clearly in your own interests. Reviewing your draft article, I do not see much potential: this is a very new band without even one album out, never toured. Wikipedia is not for free publicity. Even if Lights over Paris may eventually have a Wikipedia page, it is inappropriate for you to write it yourself. Since you have indicated no interest in any unrelated editing, I'm declining this request. Mangojuicetalk 18:11, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
