Incorrect Definition of "Wicking"

[edit]

Wikipedia remains my go-to source for all information, so I hate to see any inaccuracies therein. Your use of "wicking" to characterize the action of Coolmax fabric is misleading.

A wicking fabric is hydrophilic: it ABSORBS moisture. I bought Coolmax T-shirts (to absorb my sweat and keep my underarm dry) and found that they do the opposite: they repel moisture quite efficiently, causing sweat to pool on the skin and and leaving me feel sticky! Coolmax fabric should be classified as moisture-repellent (hydrophobic).
