Former Director of the Minority Business Opportunity Committee, within former Mayor Willie Brown Jr.’s Office of Economic Development and was Coordinator for the Enterprise Community Program, a $3.5 million HUD funded program, in the Mayor’s Office of Community Development. Facilitated contracting opportunities for contractors and small businesses in the Bayview-Hunter’s Point, Mission, and Vis-Valley neighborhoods. Implemented monthly “town-hall” meetings and community workshops to assist contractors and CBO’s with the process and funding procedures for the Enterprise Community Program. Worked closely with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Administration, on developing contracting opportunities for small businesses. Gained management experience at Wells Fargo Bank, as a Vice-President of Operations at Investment Mortgage International and as a Manager at MCI Telecommunications. Currently, meeting on a regular basis with SF City and County of San Francisco department heads and Mayor’s Office administrators vis-à-vis contracting opportunities for historically disenfranchised communities.

An active community member, was Director of the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP’s Voter Registration and GOTV Committees. Instrumental in the planning and the development of California’s first African-American Business Summit, which was held at the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel. Participated in advance work for President Bill Clinton and California Governor Gray Davis; Director of the San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce.

Graduated cum laude from Bowling Green State University and spent a year of academic study at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana from 1975-1976. Upon returning from Africa, served as a legislative assistant to Senator John Glenn (D-Ohio) on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and then Howard University School of Law.
