Information icon Hello, I'm Hisashiyarouin. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the page Battle of the Somme, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. 野狼院ひさし u/t/c 14:13, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at ANZAC Cove. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Hi guys, Hisashiyarouin, and Chris,
I am not intending to spam- I am trying to ad a link to a university project that touches elements of all the WW 1 interest sites i have uploaded the link to. Is this wrong? if so I will remove. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Longwaytotipperary (talkcontribs)
Yes, it's wrong. Please read WP:LINKSPAM. You've also chosen a promotional username, which is also a problem. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising platform. Chris Troutman (talk) 14:35, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, the intention was not to spam, and I viewed it as the addition of a non-commercial, non-profit, academically approved resource that might add to the interest of those investigating the pages.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
