Juice Wrld
[edit]Looks like you are intent on including "most popular" in the first paragraph of the Juice Wrld article. I see you are not a very experienced editor, so maybe you don't know that such opinions need to be referenced with a very reliable source. If you have reliable sources that back up this opinion, it's possible that this could be worked into the text. However, the fact that Juice Wrld had several very popular songs makes it a little tricky to decide that one is definitely "most popular". I'll be happy to help you out on this if needed. - Perhaps the fact that the song is certified 6x Platinum, or that it is his highest charting song, or that it is his most streamed song on spotify and youtube, would contribute to it being his "most popular". Luke28h (talk) 15:32, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- The sentence already says it's streamed over 1 billion times on Spotify. The other stuff may be true but it doesn't make it his "most popular" or even "most successful" song unless you have a reliable source saying exactly that. We are not allowed to draw our own conclusions and publish opinions based on them here. That's called original research. Please read WP:OR if you need to bone up on that. - From the RIAA page: "RIAA’s historic Gold® & Platinum® Program defines success in the recorded music industry." The RIAA publishes a list of songs that are certified, Lucid Dreams has the most certifications. How is this original research? This is backed up in his discography page. - You're very good at these links and things, despite only being on Wikipedia for like 8 days. How are you doing that? JimKaatFan (talk) 16:33, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- How am I adding the links? It isn't that hard. I've been on Wikipedia far longer than 8 days, I just started editing more often recently. I am a fan of Juice WRLD and wanted to help clean up and improve his wikipedia entry after seeing some misleading information. If you don't think that "most popular" or "most successful" should be included in the sentence about his most popular song, that's your opinion, but that doesn't make it not a fact. - Okay I see now that you made 10 edits between 2014 and 2017. Is that when you became an expert on what belongs in articles and what doesn't? JimKaatFan (talk) 18:44, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- I don't see how my activity on this site matters or that it is necessary to be an expert on the Wikipedia editing guidelines to make edits to articles on this website. Anyone is free to critique the edits I am making and remove bits that don't matter. My goal with my edits are to improve the quality of an article and add information where it is necessary. If what I write can be reworded or changed to further improve the quality, that is what I am aiming for. You're right, I am relatively new to editing in large quantities so I may not know all the ins and outs. I appreciate valid constructive-criticism and will always take suggestions into account. Instead you're gatekeeping wikipedia editing, implying that I need more experience and should become an expert before I should be editing articles, and continuing to avoid an actual discussion as to whether the inclusion of the line "most successful" song is valid given the sources I provided. No, I'm just wondering how you know so much about Wikipedia editing after making 10 edits between 2014 and 2017, and then never editing between 2017 and a few days ago, when you suddenly showed up to start editing Juice Wrld's article. JimKaatFan (talk) 00:04, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
- Are you legitimately asking the specifics as to why I suddenly starting editing the Juice WRLD article after years of inactivity? Well I'm a fan and I noticed that there was some bad information in the article so I decided to edit it. I'm bored during the coronavirus pandemic and editing seemed like something fun to do in my free time. I tried my best to imitate the formatting of other articles and learn some of the basic guidelines so that my edits would improve the quality of the article. Why do you keep following me? Did I rub you the wrong way when I reverted your edit or something? It wasn't personal, I just didn't agree with your explanation at the time. I'm just trying to find some common understanding and you keep questioning my credibility. Luke28h (talk) 02:06, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
