Information icon Hi M.anjeyyyy! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Labuan Shipyard and Engineering that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. -- LemonSlushie 🍋 (talk) (edits) 07:46, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LemonSlushie 🍋, Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I appreciate your diligence in maintaining the standards on Wikipedia. I'll make sure to adhere to the correct criteria for marking edits as "minor" in the future. Your guidance is valuable, and I'll review the Help:Minor edit page to ensure a better understanding. Thank you. M.anjeyyyy (talk) 08:20, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On top of that, are you denying the fact that before the British arrival in Penang, the region was within the Siamese sphere of influence and that Siamese communities still exist in the state?
Also, please provide proof that Jawi is the official script in Penang. hundenvonPG (talk) 07:58, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  1. No, I acknowledge that minority Siamese communities mainly exist in the northernmost states of Malaysia. However, it is important for you to acknowledge that Malay communities are significantly larger than Siamese communities in Penang. It is also important to acknowledge that the mother tongue of Malay communities in Penang is Penang Malay (or Kedah Malay), and modern Malay is written in Roman script and still natively written in Jawi and answering Bahasa Melayu SPM Examination in Jawi is acceptable.
  2. Jawi may not be the official script in modern Penang, but Hanzi, Pinyin, Thai, and Tamil are also not given special privileges under the constitution of Penang or the constitution of Malaysia. By dropping Jawi as one of the native transcriptions, are you denying that Jawi was one of the scripts used historically in Penang?
  3. If historical Siamese influence and minority Siamese communities in Penang are your reasons to include Thai transcription, I hope you are not applying a double standard by denying that Jawi has a historical existence in Penang and that Malay communities in Penang are significantly larger than Siamese communities.

  • "mother tongue of Malay communities in Penang is Penang Malay"

Did you not see the official name Pulau Pinang in Penang? Where is your claim of "double standards"? WP:CHERRYPICKING?
  • What I did ask is for proof that Jawi is in official use in Penang. All I get is a defunct newspaper? Bintang Timor still exists?
  • Did you not see the constitution: [1]? Where does it say that Jawi is the official Malay script? The constitution itself, is it written in Jawi? Or is it in rumi? Which Penang government correspondence, directive or law was in Jawi? Jawi has official status? Where? Please provide proof to back your claim that Jawi is the official Malay script in Penang. WP is not the place for flimsy POV or "because I say so" disputes. hundenvonPG (talk) 10:25, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
