Speedy deletion of Stonecroft Ministries[edit]

A tag has been placed on Stonecroft Ministries requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 21:53, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article started thusly: "Stonecroft Ministries is a non-denominational, non-profit Christian organization providing global leadership in women’s ministry. Its mission is to equip and encourage women to impact their communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ." which is not written from a neutral point of view, but from a favorable/selling one. The body of the article more than once informs and encourages readers to go to the group's website for its doctrine or to purchase products. That's advertising. And additionally, the article does not demonstrate that this group has had significant coverage in reliable third-party sources as required by our inclusion guidelines, see WP:N. I'll take you at your word that you have no connection to the group, so you need not familiarize yourself with WP:COI - but you cannot use the group's websites as the primary sources of your information for any article - those sources are neither reliable nor third-party and are likely to contain puffery and bias (as would a website maintained by a group opposed to this one). Look at the BBC, CNN, Time Magazine, or the New York Times, and such for coverage of this purportedly large group. Any group with 40,000 members would have received coverage in such publications.
