Hi, Marco, me and my colleague have developed our article already, here is a link- User:Aetska/sandbox. We are looking for your feedback and maybe suggestions for improvement. Regards --Aetska (talk) 19:28, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback on Madonna De Surdis page[edit]

Hello! My group has created a draft of our wikipedia page in sandbox, and I was wondering if you could take a look at it? Looking forward for your feedback:) Link is here: https://w.wiki/ADSx

@Funkyboogiedisco: Ok, I've added some suggestions in User talk:Funkyboogiedisco/sandbox. Next time you write to me:
  1. Use the "Add topic" link at the top of this page
  2. Don't use short links, instead use simply the wikilinks, like this: User:Funkyboogiedisco/sandbox.
  3. Put your signature at the end of the message usign the "Signature and timepstamp" button in the toolstrip.
Good work! --Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 15:10, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox in the Finnish language version[edit]

Hi Marco, Thanks for helping us to create and use the sandboxes in the course Wikipedia:GLAM/UNIPD/European and Global Studies 2021-22. I have been experimenting on the Finnish Wikipedia side but I cannot find the sandbox function there. Can you help with this? Thanks --Omppuukko (talk) 14:44, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Omppuukko I think you can simply create it as it is a subpage of your userpage: fi:Käyttäjä:Omppuukko/Sandbox or fi:Käyttäjä:Omppuukko/The Name You Prefer (you can have more than one, if needed). Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 16:40, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much Marco. I still did not understand how these subpages are created. But I will link this one that you created in the main page so we can start working on the Finnish translation on this page next week. Have I understood correctly? Omppuukko (talk) 09:59, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Omppuukko, yes, you can begin working. The sandboxes are user subpages intended as temporary pages, for scratch purposes, and you can create them easily (simply clicking on a red link, like the previous I provided, or modifying the URL by yourself from your browser); they can be in any (reasonable) number and also the title can be what you prefer. When the article will be finished, you will need to move the whole page in the "main" (article) namespace, so in your sandbox it will remain only a single-line redirect, that you will be able to easily delete later. Good work. Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 10:13, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question about the references[edit]

Hi ! I'm currently working on the cognitive map page (on my sandbox) and I'm not sure about my references. I used three different references ([24], [25] and [26]), the last one seems okay but I think the other two are not well quoted, could you please take a look ? I copy paste the url of the pages but maybe it's not the good url. Thanks User:Lola1516/sandbox --Lola1516 (talk) 09:22, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Lola1516 Nearly good. You can edit the result in "edit" mode: click on the footnote number along the text (not in the References section!), then edit the footnote shortening the title and adding "author" and "date" fields. Good work. Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 07:58, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think I did as you said, could you please check ? Thank you ! Lola1516 (talk) 18:00, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Lola1516 Thank you, looks good. Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 07:42, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Putting "contents"[edit]

Hi Marco, I am writing to you regarding the collaborative project on Digital Constitutionalism. I was wondering if we can include the table of contents in the style that shows on regular Wikipedia pages already in the sandbox? Or can we only add the contents once we have used the sandbox to create an actual Wikipedia page? I hope I have formulated this inquiry in an understandable manner. [[Ökoline (talk) 11:12, 24 April 2022 (UTC)]][reply]

Dear @Ökoline the TOC (table of contents) cannot be created or edited manually, in fact all you need is to insert some heading titles of the sections in the page (that can be also a sandbox), and the TOC will be created/updated automatically. See Help:Section. Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 08:12, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Thank you very much. Ökoline (talk) 09:30, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Published Finnish and Swedish translations[edit]

Hi Marco! Our team has now published the Finnish and Swedish translations of Digital constitutionalism. Would it be possible for you to check that everything is in place? Thanks very much --Omppuukko (talk) 07:28, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that those translations are not visible in the English main entry. There in the Languages menu I can see only French and Italian language versions of the article. Omppuukko (talk) 07:33, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @Omppuukko, you need to edit the Wikidata item, adding the link to the new articles. You can do it also from the English article ("edit links" in the left part of the page). Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 08:30, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Marco! I' ve a question about images. I'm writing my wikipage on Giorgio Riello and his books. I don't know how to manage copyrights on these images (they are not on Wikimedia). I've found pictures on the wepage of the editor (for the books) and on the institutions website. I'm asking some suggestion to avoid violation of them. Thank you!!! Requesting a revision[edit]

Hello, we need to be revised in User:Sarita373/sandbox and this is my signature --Sarita373 (talk) 17:08, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, I would like to inform you that in agreement with professor Meneghetti we decided to create a new entry for Spatial Anxiety topic and we are not extending an existing wiki page because it doesn't exist. That is why under the Articles section you can see our title in red.

As well, we have two additional questions, firstly, what is the role of the permanent link and did we have to use it somewhere in our work? Secondly, after publishing our references certain references came back with a note written in red and this note says: " {{cite journal}}: Empty citation (help): Check date values in: |date= (help)". Thus, we would like to know what this means and can we do anything about it? It is strange that this message appears because we reported all the information required regarding the references we used.

Thank you in advance. Best regards

@Sarita373: Thank you for your message; please remember to use your signature only at the end. I will leave some suggestions in the talk page of the sandbox. Regarding your questions:
  1. The permanent link (or permalink) should be used anytime you copy some content from an existing article to another page. For example: when you copy the content of an existing article in your sandbox, it is better to put the permanent link in the Edit summary field before publishing.
  2. The problem with the red note is little; simply the footnote should be fixed (rewriting the date in another format). You can try to fix it, or instead of trying to fix it, I often suggest to remake the whole footnote, it may spare time.
Good work. --Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 11:39, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ignazio Ligotti (Unipd) Thank you. Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 11:22, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is to bring your attention to this user page. It was deleted because the user page was written in a promotional tone. Your student cannot understand why her user page was deleted. Please do note, that WP:PROMOTION is not allowed on Wikipedia at all. Even if the writing was not intentional, but a promotional content is a promotional content. Now the question is, why she would want to promote herseslf? She might not be actually wanting to promote herself, but the way she phrased her user page, it looked like she was promoting someone (not necessarily herself), and that triggered out 'promotion filter', and came to our notice. I would like to draw attention to point no.4 of WP:SOAP. User pages also fall in that point. Unintentional writing which reads like promotion, also fall in the criterion, which happened in the case of the said user page. I hope I was able to explain you the matter, and hope you will explain the same to your student. This deletion is not to discourage you or your student, but just to adhere to the guidelines of this multi disciplinary project. Yours truly, ItcouldbepossibleTalk 08:04, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
I mentioned through my message yesterday that I am not promoting my self or anyone. I believe that Wikipedia is not the place to promote my self for sure. I was trying to make the user page nice and valid. I am sorry for the inconvenience but the page was created a few weeks ago and it was okay until yesterday. Thus, If the trigger happened because of the topic that I am working on and that was moved to drafts yesterday Draft:The Syrian Jews of Aleppo, please let me know. We learned to work from our sandbox but I forgot this time. I think the learning experience we are getting as students is extremely important, and I personally have been discouraged by this situation after being really enthusiastic during the lessons to participate and work.
However, I recreated the user page and I put no information in it so it will not be promotional for sure.
I am sorry Prof. @Marco Chemello (Unipd) for the inconvenience, I was only practicing on my user page and I saw other user pages with similar structure and copied their structure. I created the user page again with no content. Sonia.A.Ibrahim (talk) 09:47, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sonia.A.Ibrahim It was not your draft that triggered the filter. It was the user page which triggered the filter. The filter uses AI to detect promotion or promotional tone of writing and reports the same, even when it was unintentional promotion. Other user pages like that content are deleted. You can see my deletion log, and you will see that I ask for deletion for promotional userpages, and I am also known for working on that field. Your present user page is ok. For example, see my userpage. You will not find anything which will be taken as offensive to the Wikipedia's guidelines. Its not that you have to create a user page with only 1 sentence. Mine has many things on it, but it is limited to adhere to the guidelines. You are also free to do the same. Regards, ItcouldbepossibleTalk 10:01, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible I created my user page since 3 May 2022. I think If the problem was in my user page The filter that uses AI should be triggered in about 24 hours of me creating the page, not after 22 days. Sonia.A.Ibrahim (talk) 12:15, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Now see, there is no point in saying, how it has happened, why it happened and so on. I just gave a reason as to why your user page should be deleted, and the rest was for the deletion admin to decide. And as you might see, in the deletion log, the deletion admin decided what to do. In the deletion log, it is clearly stated that the article was deleted because of "unambiguous promotion". So you see, I proposed the deletion, but the final decision was taken by the admin. Now see, if you are not satisfied with my answer, you can ask other administrators as well. Pinging Nick Moyes to this discussion for his output. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 14:27, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sonia.A.Ibrahim Forgot the ping. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 14:27, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Issue related with the Wiki page on Digital Constitutionalism[edit]

Good morning! I'm writing you to ask for your help. In April I took part in a project organised by the University of Padova, with the objective of writing a Wikipedia article on Digital constitutionalism. The problem that I've found is that: whenever searching on Google for Digital constitutionalism, the wikipedia page I've worked on does not appear. The only way to find it is to search for the Italian version and then changing the language to English. Is there a way to solve this problem? Thanks in advance. Best regards, --Enrifabris (talk) 08:54, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Enrifabris Thank you for your message. It's strange, as the page is not orphan and new articles are usually indexed in hours. However, I've added some more links in other articles pointing to the new article, so it'll work. Let's see. Another hypotesis is that Google may have banned the term, but I cannot imagine why. Marco Chemello (Unipd) (talk) 13:28, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the feedback. I'll wait and see if something changes. Enrifabris (talk) 13:31, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
