Hello

How do I remove my IP from the listing? I signed up to get it removed but that did not work. Also if you can please leave the little updates I added that would be cool. I am a BIG fan of Roy Rogers and I just wanted to add some info.

Thanks, Jay JayS0310 (talk) 01:47, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello,

Also please remove these questions after you receive them I didn't know how to email you privately.

Thanks, Jay JayS0310 (talk) 01:48, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Jay! First of all, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, when the page information is saved, it is saved permanently. So your IP address will still be visible in the history. However, now that you have an account; the only people who can see your IP address are Check users who can only act on official complaints from other editors. So don't be concerned about your IP address being traced to you, as it probably won't be.
And regarding your contributions to the Roy Rogers article, I see no problem with them. I may change the capitalization (one word feels like you are shouting), but that's it. Bear in mind, though; that some editors will feel your contributions are nonconstructive and will remove them. If this happens, I encourage you to talk with the other editor and see if you can't agree on a compromise.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 04:02, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Great, welcome to the project. --Kumioko (talk) 04:10, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

??????

Im sorry i did not edit a page recently, what makes you think that i did? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.221.213.3 (talk) 03:35, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

The warning was placed when I reverted an edit originating from your IP address, using an automated tool. With that in mind, I'd like you to consider a couple things:
- The template is four days old, so it isn't the most recent.
- Since you are using an IP address, it could have been assigned to someone else.
If there was any confusion or a mistake, I'm sorry. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 04:52, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

New Years Message for WikiProject United States

With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. If you have other suggestions or are interested in doing other things feel free. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions were additional help is needed. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions or you can always post something on the projects talk page. If you do not want to recieve a monthly message please put an * before your name on the members page.--Kumioko (talk) 03:35, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

WikiProject Colorado

The year 2011 has brought many changes to the State of Colorado. Several users have asked us to reactivate WikiProject Colorado. We have a new Governor and other state officers, two new U.S. Representatives, many new state legislators, and a new Mayor of Denver. Many articles about Colorado need to be updated and many Colorado places, people, and organizations need new articles. Portal:Colorado needs some new featured articles.

Can you help us? Please see our list of some requested articles. If you would like to remain an active member of WikiProject Colorado, please leave me a message at User talk:Buaidh or e-mail me at Special:EmailUser/Buaidh. If you cannot help right now, you can go to inactive status and then reactivate your status later. Thanks for any help you can provide. Yours aye,  Buaidh  17:18, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Picture code

Hi Matthew,

Did I get the picture code correct? I took it with my camera, and I understand it will go into public domain.

I am also going to nee4d help with links. I see how to do a See Also, but I would like to put links in all the articles that use solar golf cart in them.

Thanks.

Did I sign correct?

Dougal Crismond (talk) 13:35, 18 January 2011 (UTC)LindaDougal Crismond (talk) 13:35, 18 January 2011 (UTC) 1/18/11

Hi! Yes, you inserted the image correctly. It looks good. The one problem with the image is that it doesn't have a copyright tag (which means it may be deleted). You just need to add a tag to the image telling everyone that it is released into the public domain. Please see WP:ICTIC for more information.
For the links, I would recommend adding {{details|topic=solar golf carts|Solar Golf Cart}} to the top of the articles. This will produce the following output:

For information about which articles need it, as well as how to tweak the hatnote (that's what it's called), please see WP:HATNOTE.
Yes, you did sign correctly. Except I think you clicked the sign button once too many.  :) ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 15:11, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Edit: I just re-read your post, and you said that you know how to do the see also. Cool. What you're looking to add are wikilinks. These are added this way: [[Solar Golf Cart]]. The code will produce the following output: Solar Golf Cart. Since your article uses all capitol letters, you need to make sure that you use all capitol letters in your link, too. Otherwise, it won't go to the correct place. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 15:15, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Picture Code

Matthew,

I tried again to code the picture, but it does not look like it worked. I tried {{PD-Dougal Crismond}}

Your help is appreciated.

~Linda 1/18/11

Glad to help. If I understand correctly, you're releasing the image into the public domain, right? The information on how to do that is WP:GPD, specifically the section "Advice for editors and Uploaders". The templates you can use are located at WP:ICTIC. Look through the templates and pick the one you feel that best represents the license you are releasing the image under. Then, replace the deletion tag with the license tag you have chosen.
I'll admit that I'm not totally clear on the licensing, however; if the information on this page isn't clear, I invite you to come to the help chat (here) and you can ask all the questions you need. Thanks, ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 22:45, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
It looks like you tagged it properly. Congratulations! I've removed the template for deletion because you tagged it. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 01:59, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

How long does it take for a new Wikipedia article to appear in Google?

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for your help. When I looked at my Solar Golf Cart article this morning, I see that the photo still says it has not been tagged and will be deleted. When will this note go away?

How long does it take for a Wikipedia article to appear on the first page of Google for a search with the article name(solar golf cart)? Am I correct in thinking that the article should appear on the first page? Would Google list the article if the search was for something other than the title i.e. "converting a golf cart to solar power?"

Thanks,

~Linda — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dougal Crismond (talkcontribs) 15:47, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

I removed the tag. It apparently had to be removed manually...
It could take up to a few days for the article to appear on Google. Google uses what are called "robots" to index the web, but they can't index everything simultaniously (the web is estimated at about 3 trillion pages total). But Wikipedia is higher up in the que, so it should show up soon. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 22:31, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

What gives you the right to determine what are correct and incorrect interpretations of the Bible?Joemamma666 (talk) 00:03, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

If you look at my revisions, I didn't revert anything about the bible. The diff I reverted is from 60 to 60,000 members of the society. I removed this revision because you didn't provide a reliable source to back up your claims. If you give me one source to back up the claim, then I will add the information back in. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 00:09, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to poke in here, but the single cited source already given (The Guardian) clearly gives the membership figure as 60. Haploidavey (talk) 00:23, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

RE: I feel you earned this

Thank you kindly, but I must admit that I perhaps wasn't as civil as I would have liked to be. Thank you, though.  狐 FOX  14:29, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

You kept your head in explaining things to him. It took about four times before you started loosing your cool. Even then, you tried to be civil. ~ Matthewrbowker Say hi! 22:30, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
