Nehemiah Mavetera was born on 27 September 1968, on a friday between 11:00 and 12:00 am in the disctrict of Gutu,Masvingo province (former Fort Victoria province) in Zimbabwe ( former Rhodesia). He was born in a family of fiteen children and is the last born of the Mavetera family, popularly known as Sigauke family in the rural faming area of Nyazvidzi. The family owned and survived on a 66 hectare farmily farm. Nehemiah went to Domborenikiti , Gona, Rafamoyo Schools forhis primary education and Dewure and Gokomere Schools for his GCE 'O' and 'A'-level studies.

In 1990,he joined the prestigious University of Zimbabwe (University of Zimbabwe) to study Bsc Engineering, specializing in Surveying. In 1993, he graduated with an Honours degree in Engineering and in January 1994, he joined Urban Development Corporation (UDCORP), a government parastal as a land surveyor-in-training. During this period, Nehemiah surveyed properties in Harare, Kwekwe, Mutare, Masvingo and many other areas of Zimbabwe. It is this footprint that he will be remebered for the rest of his surveying career.

In Augaust 1997, he left industry and joined Harare Polytechnic as a lecturer in Surveying and Photogrammetry. He decided to further his studies and in September 1999, he left Harare Polytechnic and went for his Masters studies at International Institute of Aerospace Sciences and Earth Observations) [1] in Enschede, The Netherlands. Nehemiah then specialized in Geoinfomation Management, Cadastre and Land Registration. During his stay in The Netherlands, he doubled up as a language translator for the Dutch Television. It is this time of history when ther was an orgy of land invasions in Zimbabwe. As such, the world was very intereted to know what was said in the Shona dialect and Nehemiah was found to be very handy in The Netherlands. This is the same time Nehemiah joined Monash University, a world known Australian University as a Lecturer in Information Technology. He worked at the newly established South African Campus for four years, teaching courses such as Systems Analyses and Design, E-Business, Database Management Systems and the like. He also participated handsomely as a Vice Chair for the CSSA SIG on XML.

IN November 2004, Nehemiah left Monash SA and joined North West University-Mafikeng campus as a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems. This time he taught Management of Information Technology, Programming, Database Management Systems, Foundations of Information Systems,Electronic Business, Software Engineering to undergraduate and graduate students alike. He also suprvised several research students for their Honours and Masters research studies in Information Systems. During this same time, he was studying for his PhD in IT with the University of Pretoria[2]specializing in Software Development Methodologies. Nehemiah as a writer has authored and co-authored more than thirty referreed research papers in Software Development and Methodologies, covering several sub-disciplines such as software agents, ontologies, application of GTM as a research method, systems development methodologies , e-government systems and many more. This is a field of IT that he has passion for.
