Review by Jayzlimno[edit]

Hi User:Mdoughty332, nice work on improving the Hydrological code article. I'm a data scientist at the USGS and work with many folks who use hydrologic unit codes daily, so they'll appreciate that you've improved this article. I have some suggestions below that I hope can improve it a bit more.

  • I suggest creating a new subheading immediately following the first paragraph which covers the following two paragraphs covering the two stream order and coding systems, the Strahler stream order and the Pfafstetter coding system. You might call this subheading 'Types of hydrological codes' or something similar. You might also want to have another subheading that encompasses the Europe and United States headings, which could be called 'Hydrological coding systems' - immediately following this subheading you could have a sentence or two describing how different areas (e.g. U.S., Europe) have developed coding systems to refer to hydrologic features.
  • Europe section looks good
  • United States section
    • You could add hyperlinks to the Example names in the HUC table. For example, you could add the link to Pacific Northwest, Snake River, and Imnaha River.
    • The U.S. section is quite long, and I recommend adding some subheadings. I recommend adding a subheading called 'Overview' immediately following the table. I think other useful subheadings would be 'Regions', 'Subbasins', 'Remnant areas', 'Noncontributing areas', and 'Other features'.
    • In the paragraph immediately following the U.S. table section, the phrasing should be 'No number is skipped and are used in ascending order' rather than 'No number should be skipped ... '. The Wikipedia article isn't a recommendation but rather reporting on what has been already implemented in the hydrological coding systems.
  • good work on adding useful references.
  • In general, I recommend hyperlinking to other articles when the term is first introduced. For example sea, ocean, Europe, etc..
