I take it you do not know anything about the British army losing units to amalgamations and the like, the North Irish Horse were a fine regiment and they have now gone. You would not tell a chef he is part of the catering corps or a clerk he is part of the pay corps, no they have amalgamated and become RLC and AGC just like the North Irish Horse has become QOY. During the split of the regiment part of it went to the royal signals, now you cannot pick and choose history, if you are going to tell the story please add (or don’t delete) the whole of it.
