A quick question

[edit]

Hi-

Could you please answer my question, and if you can't, can you direct me to someone who can, please?

I am doing research to start my first article. Is a book an appropriate reference, or can they only be on the internet? I am writing it on the book in paticular.

Thank you-MistyPony1994 (talk) 23:06, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

References do not need to be available online to be appropriate. However, just because the reference is a book does not necessarily mean that the reference is a reliable source. See WP:RS for a discussion on source quality. If there's anything more you want to know, don't hesitate to ask! Gabbe (talk) 06:38, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Specifically, if the article is about a book, the book itself (being a primary source) will probably not suffice as a reference. I suggest trying to find reviews about the book or other forms of secondary sources. See WP:PSTS. Gabbe (talk) 07:01, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
