The Etiquette and Symbols of the Flowers[edit]


It is a great pleasure to get a flower but the best one is to give. The main purpose or reason for giving a bunch of flowers or only one flower are related to different events. Such as Valentine day, Mothers’ and Fathers’ days, Easter, Christmas, Graduation, Engagement, Wedding, Birth of a Baby, Christening, Anniversary of Marriage, Birthday, Funeral and any kinds of feasts.


Let’s see some important themes of the etiquette of flowers:
1, For young ladies it is required to give white or light-colored flower. If it is the first meeting we should not have given red-colored flower because it represents passion that cannot reflect the real feelings in the case of first meeting.
2, Red bunch of rose should not have given to older ladies.
3, If we wish to take only one rose it should have had long shank.
4, The numbers of the flowers have to be odd.
5, It is bad manners to give cactus (except to cactus collectors).
6, The reason of getting flower never should have pumped but thanked. Probably the person is worthy for this urbanity.
7, In the case of the new custom to give flower to men must be really considered by the type and the color of the flower. Usually it supposed to be dark-colored.
8, The displeasure never should have been seen on the face.


Meaning of the mostly used flowers:
1, Pansy: affection and some kind of purpose
2, Basil: hatred, but mostly used as herb
3, Peony: usually the coquettish women give it to the men
4, Cornflower: the symbol of unstained thoughts
5, Lily of the valley: happiness and luck
6, Hibiscus: womanliness and beauty
7, Hydrangea: ease, usually the flower of young ladies
8, Snowdrop: the first flower of spring that represents hope and purity
9, Violet: the white one is happiness and reform, the blue one is thankfulness
10, Syringe: loveliness and it impersonates the good and the virtuous women
11, Chrysanthemum: tenacity, gentility and virtuosity (it is used to take to the sepulchers on the 1st of November in Hungarian tradition)
12, Coco: to admire somebody
13, Lily: gin and it is the flower of coquettish women
14, Mouse-ear: true love, loyalty and commemoration
15, Orchid: it can be given to either women or men who we honor because of erudition
16, Red Rose: the holding love of demesne
17, White Rose: rewarded love and the love of the parents
18, Carnation: serious love and whimsicality
19, Tulip: blazing love and emotions
20, Viol: permanent pretty (but the yellow viol means impermanent pretty)


The symbol of the colors are also were important in the world of the flowers. The white represents purity and innocence, the green is hoping and existing, the red is love and freedom, the black is seriousness, sorrow and death, the yellow is duplicity and jaundice, the pink is love, the dark blue is loyalty, the violet-colored is fellowship and longing.
