Music Animation

[edit]

From what I have seen in a Google search, "Music Animation Machine" seems quite notable. However, I don't think that this software (or the Tapper program) is directly relevant to the article on Conducting. What I would suggest is perhaps to create an article called Music Animation Machine which discusses the program and its history - without being an exact copy of the material on your website. As for Tapper, the program itself is not notable enough to have its own article. One suggestion might be to create an article like Conducting software or something to that effect, and talk about this kind of software in a more general sense. Let me know if you make any progress. --DLandTALK 16:49, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Sorry for taking so long to respond. You are correct that it would be slightly problematic for you to be the one to start an article on Music Animation Machine, but speaking objectively, that software seems to be notable enough to merit an article in Wikipedia. I don't think it would be a problem for you to write the article, as long as it reads objectively, not like an advertisement, and you assert the importance of the information you are presenting. If this is not entirely clear, it may be helpful to read Wikipedia:Spam and Wikipedia:Vanity guidelines.
  2. If you were to create an article about conducting software, then it would be appropriate to link to it in the See also section of the Conducting article. The reason for this is that there is a fundamental distinction between links to other Wikipedia articles and external links. The links to other WP articles are meant to help "build the web" by creating an interconnecting system of relevant topics. External links, on the other hand, are only used to link to websites that are directly pertinent to the material discussed in the article.
Any more questions, feel free to ask away. --DLandTALK 15:56, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Typing. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.

I noticed your recent edits are all external links to articles you've written. Because you're the author, they might all be considered spam. You might also want to review again the guidelines that DLand pointed out to you above: WP:SPAM, WP:COI, and WP:EL. --Ronz 19:59, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Wikipedia:External_links#Advertising_and_conflicts_of_interest is very clear on this point:

You should avoid linking to a website that you own, maintain or represent, even if the guidelines otherwise imply that it should be linked. If the link is to a relevant and informative site that should otherwise be included, please consider mentioning it on the talk page and let neutral and independent Wikipedia editors decide whether to add it. This is in line with the conflict of interest guidelines.

Grosse Fuge

I watched your graphical score of the fugue. I thought it was brilliant! Clarifies so many things. Did you do it? --Ravpapa (talk) 08:28, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
