Why do you have a hotel info and a newspaper order form on your userpage? -- œ 21:52, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Because you have:

  • tried to use Wikipedia as a Webhost,
  • attempted to post other users' passwords and
  • made no edits whatsoever to the encyclopedia since you arrived in October,

I have blocked this account indefinitely. Blueboy96 22:34, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have learned that using Wikipedia as a webhost, as to post unorthodox material (such as the nonsense hotel info and the newspaper order form) on my user page is unacceptable behavior on Wikipedia , from the indefinite block that has been placed on me. In addition, I have posted other users' passwords wrongly, when I should never have posted other users' passwords on Wikipedia in the first place. I will also try to contribute to Wikipedia in the future as my time allows for. To conclude, I have learned the havoc that my incorrect actions have done to the Wikipedia community and I agree to from now on, not create any undesirable actions deliberately. Accept reason:

After nearly three years I am willing to believe you have changed, and give you another chance. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:40, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two questions: please elaborate on "posting others' passwords" from your block message and tell us what do you intend to do if unblocked, exactly? Max Semenik (talk) 09:01, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When I say "posting others' password" I mean that I posted Wikipedia users' passwords on my user page because I created their accounts on their behalf and they asked me to (strangely) post their passwords on my user page. I really don't know what the usernames were, but if you have access to a log of IP addresses used for account creation, I think you will find that if you find the IP address for user name Naoy5 and look up user names created with that IP address you will find several users. If I am unblocked I want to help contribute to pages relating to computers, because since I was six I have been very knowledgeable in the computing world. Being more specific, I especially want to contribute to pages about Windows 7 because I am a pro at Windows 7-related topics. --Naoy5 (talk) 18:45, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your logs do not indicate that you have created any accounts, and why would people want their usernames to be posted publicly? ~~Ebe123~~ → report 21:10, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I think I accidentally changed MaxSems mention of "posting others' passwords" to "posting others' swords" because of my clumsy typing dictionary.--Naoy5 (talk) 19:35, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you checking the IP address that I used to create my account or the IP address I currently am using, to check the accounts I have created? I have switched IP address because I switched ISP's. You also may have checked what accounts I created via my username, not via my IP address. Secondly, about my friends wanting their Wikipedia credentials displayed publicly, although that was a few years ago, I think one of those persons said "I might forget my password"; it may be unusual how they wanted me to post their password, and it may also sound unbelievable, but here's something that may help you believe it: Those people who I posted the passwords of and myself were and are still very young, we were less than 9 years of age, so we did not know that posting passwords would be dangerous. But now that I am quite a few years older, I am much more knowledgeable about Web safety, particularly not posting passwords on the Internet publicly. In addition, that also will explain why I created that newspaper order form and the hotel info a few years ago.Naoy5 (talk) 04:40, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have two questions for you.
  1. What comment would you like to make on the fact that most if not all of the accounts for which you posted passwords were used for vandalism?
  2. Are you the same person who edited under the name Trowbridge tim, and if not then what is your connection to that person? JamesBWatson (talk) 10:27, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Answering your first question: Since I have not used any of these accounts (I just created them), I would believe that while the passwords were still posted, someone saw these passwords, and logged in to them and used them to vandalize certain pages on Wikipedia. The respective people who used the account may have vandalized some parts of Wikipedia, however, I don't believe they even know how to login to Wikipedia with their account.
  2. 2nd questions: No, I am not the same person that edited under the name Trowbridge tim, and I have never seen this user account, neither am I related to him. That might have been one of the accounts I created, but I cannot remember what the account names were. Out of random curiosity, how was I related to this Trowbridge tim?

I accidentally forgot to sign in to my account to write the above post, sorry.--Naoy5 (talk) 11:22, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trowbridge tim was a persistent vandal, who was believed to have used the accounts that you posted the passwords to. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that, as you say, it was someone who just found the passwords you posted and used them. It does show, however, why it is important not to post passwords where they can be seen. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:40, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
