Adding pictures to Wikipedia
[edit]Hello there, and welcome to Wikipedia.
I'm afraid adding an image isn't as simple as just putting the URL in - for an image to be used in Wikipedia, we have to upload an actual copy of it, via the "Upload file" link in the "toolbox" section of the sidebar. You'll have to jump through a few hoops to explain exactly what right you have to be including the picture in a freely-distributable encyclopaedia; generally speaking, it has to be something that's in the public domain (typically a press-pack photo, if it's for a famous person).
Take a look at WP:IMAGES for more information. It'd be good to have a decent picture of Peter Cook if you can find something that fits Wikipedia's criteria. --McGeddon (talk) 15:31, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
