Incorrect tagging

It is perfectly standard to do this with a long nom, to avoid cluttering the main page. See eg 2023 March 5#Academic staff in Canada, Central America and the Caribbean, Oceania and South America. 2-clicks - well, that must be awful. Oculi (talk) 12:49, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Emigration by country

I was looking at Category:Emigration by country and realized that what it was meant to cover is not an alternative to grouping emigrants by "nationality", but a grouping of articles about the process of emigration, that are not on actual immigrants. Another editor decided to put in articles named in a certain way, but that was not the intention of the creator.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:22, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

• • Looking at the actual 5 categories that use "emigration" in their name, it is not very obvious how they are any different than their parent diaspora categories. In the case of Category:Lithuanian emigration there are several articles that are currently in both that and Category:Lithuanian diaspora, and based on the articles we currently have I am not sure creating such a distinction in categorization would make sense.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:41, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
    • Category:Emigration by country was indeed intended to contain categories that use "emigration" in their name. I don't know why Category:Emigrants by nationality has been added either. As you say an upmerge of Category:Lithuanian emigration into Category:Lithuanian diaspora might well succeed at cfd. Oculi (talk) 00:11, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
