Hello Ol4ever. Be advised that the images you've placed in the Audi A8 page have no verifiable copyright information, and as such may be deleted at any time. Usually that sort of professional photography is copyrighted or at least restricted use and Wikipedia generally doesn't allow for that to be included. You may want to go back and update the tags on those photos, otherwise they may disappear from Wikipedia at any time. Thank You for the information, As a newbie I am currently researching how to tag or attached the required license. All of the Audi A8 pictures are on free wallpaper sites, And I have verified that the useage of them is free and ok to repost. Once again thank you.

Although the pictures you posted may be available for download from various web sites for use as wallpaper, and the authors may be fine with them being distributed by private individuals, it's often a different matter for them to be published here. It's much like if Road and Track downloaded free wallpaper from automobilemag.com and put it into the next issue. See the page on Wikipedia's image use policy. This particular passage is relevant:

Before you upload an image, make sure that either:

You own the rights to the image (usually meaning that you created the image yourself).
You can prove that the copyright holder has licensed the image under a free license.
You can prove that the image is in the public domain.
You believe, and state, a fair use rationale for the specific use of the image that you intend.

Your Road and Track scenario is comical at best, First and foremost both of those are incoming generating corporations and copyright infringement could technically exist. Secondly Wiki is a free edit to all and not a commercial use site. Did you forget to Donate this month Tom?

I understand that you're new here, so you're unaware of how things work. My Road and Track scenario is exactly applicable. Even though Wikipedia can be edited by anyone and is run as a non-profit, it must obey all copyright laws. Again I encourage you to review the Wikipedia image use policy. Wallpaper available for download is not necessarily in the public domain, nor is it necessarily licensed under a free license. According to Wikipedia policy, you must be able to prove that the images in question are free for use by anyone for any purpose. That includes publication by for-profit magazines. If the image can't be used by Road and Track for free, then it can't be used here.

The wallpaper you've added from automobilemag.com just says "You'll see the Audi S8 story in the February issue of Automobile Magazine. Get a first look by downloading these wallpaper photos by Tom Salt." This is not a free license.

In addition, you appear to be under the impression that I've done something I haven't. I don't know the exact details, but I haven't redirected anything of yours. You can check my contributions and see.

Audi A8

I realize that you are new to Wikipedia, and as an Audi enthusiast myself, I welcome you, but I urge you to learn how to follow the site's rules before you edit. TomTheHand has basically told you all that you need to know above. The photos you have uploaded are copyright violations, and even if they were not, they have no tags. Just because you can use a photo for your personal desktop does not mean that it can legally be used for on an online encyclopedia. Also, the photos are not formatted correctly for the page, and as a result they are too large and break up the text of the article.

I welcome you to upload any images that are either in the public domain or that you take yourself. A photo of the new S8 would be helpful, but the article already contains a public domain photograph of the A8L W12.

My final piece of advice would be to add a signature to your posts on discussion pages. I had to go look in my page's history to see who sent me a message.

Well if you and Audi Enthusiast than you should have helped keep those beutiful pictures of the S8 and W12 regardless of of my inexperience attempt to post withour tags. I will be putting those picutures back you can count on it. FYI I don't like tomthehand he reverts everyones articles at his free will and i think it's BS. User:ol4ever

Ol4ever, please listen to me. If the pictures in question are not released under a free license, they cannot be posted here. The Wikipedia image use policy that I keep referring you to is not something that I made up. It is how Wikipedia works. You've got to slow down and learn more about Wikipedia before getting into fights with people over the way you think things should be.

You might want to spend some time at Help, and take a glance at the GFDL article or the actual text of the GFDL. If you read about the GFDL you'll understand why you cannot copy pictures or text off of someone's web site and post it on Wikipedia. The GFDL says that anyone can take the content on Wikipedia and copy it, redistribute it, modify it, and even put it in a book and sell it, as long as they allow others to do the same. Road and Track could go to the Audi A8 article, copy it word for word, and print it, pictures and all, in next month's issue (it wouldn't happen, but it's legal under the GFDL), and all they'd have to do is let people freely distribute their article. That's fine, but please be clear to the owners of the pictures that you are asking them to license the pictures under the GFDL, which means they're essentially giving the pictures up to be used freely by everyone everywhere including their competitors. They are giving permission to "copy and distribute the Document in any medium, either commercially or noncommercially." Make sure that you will be able to prove that the pictures are free-licensed as well, with a clear statement by the owners, not just your word that you e-mailed them and they said ok. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as insulting. I'm only trying to help, and I may have gotten a little frustrated. I am not acting like some sort of authority, but rather trying to show you the Wikipedia policies, which ARE the authority here. I was trying to avoid Round 2 of this situation, where you repost the pictures saying that the owner gave permission when in fact they gave nothing of the sort. Ol4ever, there is no reason for hysterics. If it is so important to you to have a picture of the new Audi S8 on this page (and it obviously seems to be), then I urge you to go to your local Audi dealership with a digital camera and take a clear photo of one yourself. When I wanted to upload a photo of the A8L W12, I went to a car show where I knew a W12 would be and photographed it myself. I, the author, released the picture into the public domain and that was all there was to it.

I am worried that the administrators might block you if you continue to use hostile language, so please, for your sake, do not allow yourself to get into these arguments that have been the end of new contributors before.

Thanks for the tip! But sadly the New S8 is not in America just yet. But very soon I will have those pictures back up and with full permission from the photographers and following wikipedia rules. As far as it being important, Well would not have spent $83,000 on my A8L if I was'nt. I am not like some posers who think they know what Audi's are. User:ol4ever
