User talk:Olivia hills
Hi Olivia, thank you for your message re the edits to John Hills. The issue with the edits aren't that they aren't correct as I'm sure that you are better placed than most to know about your father's life. However, there are a few policies on Wikipedia which you need to know about - have a look at WP:VERIFY which explains how material has to be able to be verified to reliable sources (WP:SOURCES) - basically all information is supposed to have a citation to something which could be checked by someone, either from an online source or something written. There were no links in the material you added either, which is a minor point but its useful for readers to find links to other articles. The poem, I'd say, doesn't really belong in an encyclopedia article even if its available elsewhere. There are also some guidelines WP:COI re "conflict of interest" - editing about people you have a close connection with, which you'll need to bear in mind if you do more on the article. John Hills needs a decent article though, more than the very bare stub which I created, so if you want a hand, please put a message on my talk page again and I'll see what I can do. If you click on the "new section" tab at the top, it will add at the bottom so I can find it easier. Welcome to Wikipedia! --Bcp67 (talk) 13:59, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
