Performing for Pencils is a nonprofit founded in 2013 by two St. Louis highschoolers. These John Burroughs students founded the organization to change the staggering number of students in the area who cannot afford adequate school supplies^[1], 90,000.

The 2014 show, June 12 at John Burroughs, was hosted by Miss Missouri, Shelby Ringhdal . The show collected $10,000 worth of supplies, donated to the St. Louis Public School System. It featured many of the acts featured in the Fox Teen Talent Competition, including the runner up Underground Tappers.^[2]

== Heading text == 2015

The 2015 show, held on August 15, will be hosted by Miss Black America. This year's show has many acts on slate already, including 3 finalists of the Fox Teen Talent Competition.
