Hi PZEK. I had a look through the references attached to the sentence you mentioned here, and you're right they don't confirm the higher 347,000 figure. New detail being insert into sentences with refers, when the references don't support the new details, is unfortunately a common issue.
In this case the new fifure seems to come from the work of 'William F. Nimmo' that is mentioned in the Japanese internees and Russians section of the article. However that section doesn't provide any sources either. I'm dot have subject knowledge of the area, so for the moment I've moved the references so they appear after the 60,000 figure and added {{citation needed}} for the higher one.[1]
The Admin's board is only for behaviour issues (admins have no special powers over content), so if you have any other issues I said suggest posting to the talk page of the article or if you have no luck there try WP:MILHIST (a group of editors who edit military history and associated articles). -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested «@» °∆t° 23:25, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Thank you for your clarification. As far as I know, this number was much higher than the usual estimates. --PZEK (talk) 15:02, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
