Proposed deletion of LPAR2RRD

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article LPAR2RRD, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Advertisement for IBM software project; no indication of notability given beyond the mere existence. WP:COI - the developer of the software seems to also be the author of the article.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. §FreeRangeFrog 03:55, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, for some reason I thought that this was an IBM-sponsored project. I apologize. I revised the wording on the deletion notification to reflect that, in the interest of fairness.

As stated in that warning tag, you have the prerogative of removing it at any time to contest the deletion. My reason for tagging it remains though, and that's the fact that your project, important as it might be to you, fails to meet the notability guidelines for inclusion. People create pages in Wikipedia for their projects (and lots of other stuff) all the time, and unless they are notable for some particular reason and/or have substantial third-party coverage, they are also routinely deleted. We're not trying to stack up on you, and we welcome all contributions, but Wikipedia has very specific guidelines as to what may or may not be included here. Wikipedia is not the place to keep or disseminate information about your personal project. It's intended to document notability, not help establish it. §FreeRangeFrog 20:24, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
