Links and namespaces[edit]

Please do not put links to pages in the "User" namespace, or other namespaces besides the main one, into wikipedia articles. I reverted the bio link you added. Dicklyon 04:22, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Dick, as a new editor for WikiPedia I assumed it would be a good way to start a new chapter/article. Since you seem to be an experienced editor here, which procedure would you recommend ?

panjasan 14:39, 17 January 2007 (UTC)panjasanpanjasan 14:39, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

You can start in your own space, but don't link to it there; move it to a real article in the main namespace first, then you can link it. You'll get help, too, if it's in the main namespace. Use a stub tag to identify an article that's just started and needs to be fleshed out; see WP:stub. Dicklyon 19:24, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Your edit to Swiss patent No. 532 261[edit]

Message posted on Tuesday, June 5, 2007[edit]

Stop hand nuvola.svg Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Swiss patent No. 532 261. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.itaggroup.com/fileadmin/remaco/Information/Nr_118_TNLCDs.pdf in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Swiss patent No. 532 261 with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Swiss patent No. 532 261 with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Swiss patent No. 532 261 saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

Agreement to publish the translation as previously referenced in my contribution obtained from author and his employer on 2007-06-26, but I have decided not to publish this under the GFDL, since no modification of this publication would be reasonable or could be accepted.

It was good of you to ask for permission. Can you summarize the article in your own words? That would be a proper contribution. -- But|seriously|folks  23:09, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I did ask for permission before starting the translation, I just did not have the consent in writing. The subject matter is so delicate that a summary in my own words will be difficult and might negatively affect the conclusion of the original article. I might eventually give it a try ...

A tag has been placed on MS-Publications, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

notability, context, this is just a list

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dawn bard (talk) 19:17, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of International Committee for Display Metrology[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

I have nominated International Committee for Display Metrology, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/International Committee for Display Metrology. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Panjasan: The ICDM is providing valuable work in order to support any user of electronic visual display devices (e.g. the computer monitor you are using to read this) and thus its activities may be of interest to all of us who use electronic display devices. Have a look at specsmanship. This organization is also non-commercial and open to anybody ready to provide contributions.

Frankly speaking, I do not understand why commercial entities (companies, firms, etc.) in fact use wikipedia as a kind of advertising platform while efforts are spent on deleting such a valuable open community effort.
