Hi Pauleslastic, to echo Journalist -- thanks for your contributions. On the issue of whether U of T is one of Canada's oldest universities, I am trying to find evidence for your claim that it is "nowhere near" one of Canada's oldest. According to the List of G10 Universities, U of T is the third-oldest, preceded only by McGill (6 years' difference) and Laval (which, admittedly, is much older than both McGill and U of T). I would say McGill is "one of Canada's oldest", with U of T close behind. I do not think there is anything unencyclopedic about saying U of T is one of Canada's oldest universities. Is there another factor I am not aware of? Thanks. BFD1 16:41, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clarifying! Any chance you could insert that into the article? It's valuable information; it places the establishment of U of T into a broader historical context. I think the article would benefit from some mention of its place in the history of Canadian universitites, and it seems like you're the person to make the change. :) Thanks again.
