Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Hanson traction requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ian.thomson (talk) 01:18, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What to do about the article being deleted.

[edit]

The speedy deletion tags say that if you contest the deletion, put "{{hangon}}" just below the speedy deletion tag ({{db-corp}}) and then go to the article talk page and explain why you think the article should not be deleted. Also, you may may want to read the guidelines on notability (which the article did not demonstrate) and reliable sources (which the article lacked completely).

Okay, fair enough. Regarding the "reliable sources" my friend actually works for said company and I know it like the back of my hand! What I'm presenting are facts, although it does annoy me that there are loads of railway pages on Wikipedia which show completely false information with absolutely no sources what so ever and nothing has been altered on those.

That's not considered a reliable source for Wikipedia purposes. Magazine or newspaper articles, books, stuff that anyone can get ahold of (Wikiepdia isn't so much about what is "true" or "false", but what is written). As for the other articles, if you could point them out to me, I would be willing to tag them for deletion if they don't meet the guidelines. Ian.thomson (talk) 01:50, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Okay, I will provide some more reliable sources.

Update: Have provided some sources and stated why the company are notable, in railway terms at least. Will add more sources if required in due course, until then I would appreciate it if the article had a stay of execution! Thanks.

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Hanson Traction, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Ian.thomson (talk) 02:19, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
