Response from Creator of Freshwater Article

[edit]

Hi, I am from the Freshwater Community Centre, and wanted to put the article up from our website. I don't understand, I am not allowed to have it on our site and Wikipedia?

The problem is that we get people copying and pasting information from websites into our articles, which is a copyright infringement problem. If you are the author of the work you're using, you can choose to release it under the GFDL. But, even if there is no copyright problem, not many websites are written in any kind of encyclopedic tone. We generally don't encourage people writing about themselves or their organisations, because the articles often wind up being less than ideal examples of an encyclopedia entry. I hope that this explains why you were getting strange responses to your editing here. Jkelly 06:27, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
