Fragmentation of Czech municipalities

[edit]

Hello, what is the point of fragmenting Czech municipalities into their parts? When we look at the Czech Republic as a whole, it is divided into municipalities on enwiki, and their municipal parts are systematically written about within the municipalities to which they belong, with only several excaptions. The Czech Republic is divided into significantly more municipalities than the surrounding states. I don't see it as productive to create a page for every village, especially when instead of a meaningful page it's just a quick translation from cswiki, which contains outdated information (population, area) and details redundant for enwiki (cadastral territory, number of addresses). Even German or Austrian municipalities are not divided in such detail, even though they are larger and more important administrative units than these Czech villages. Wouldn't it be more useful for example to expand the existing ones into some meaningful form first? FromCzech (talk) 06:41, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, we are translating "settlements" (mainly villages), which were photographed during Wikiexpedition Southwest. We think that if we focus on it, it would be nice to spread the knowledge to English. We can improve these translated articles, but I don't think so we have the capacity to improve the municipality articles. So if you think these articles are not worth English Wikipedia feel free to nominate them for deletion. Juandev (talk) 10:37, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Photographing unphotographed settlements is meritorious, but starting new pages to present these photos does not look like a good idea, and it is unsystematic. For each municipality, there is a link to the commons, where there is a division according to the parts of the municipality, so anyone who wants can access the photos. But most of these settlements have nothing to offer and the photo is purely illustrative. The encyclopedic contribution of photos with a random house(s), etc. is minimal.
I don't know whether to nominate them for deletion. For now I will gradually help them to fix the format and update them, if they are already here, but it would be nice not to add more. The maintenance and destubbing of the Czech Republic is already difficult, and if we were to fragment the entire country like this, it would be impossible. To be honest, I consider your opinions to be opinions. Or is it some English Wikipedia policies? We respect the rule of encyclopedic importance here. Either there are bibliographic sources for this or there aren't. If they're up to something, there's no reason why it can't be on Wikipedia. Or does the English Wikipedia have it differently and are there stricter policies?
As for the out-of-date statistical information, it will probably not be necessary to update it manually if it will be uploaded to the template via Wikidata. I thought that these data are occasionally updated on Wikidata from ČSÚ sources.
For me, it is the case that we will try to improve the existing ones and we will not create any more articles on en in the future. Juandev (talk) 13:01, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
