Hi.

I found an error on the wiki page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Armed_Forces#Structure

in the Marine Corps section.

Is:

Platoon: "Consists of three squads and 27 marines"

Squad: "Consists of three teams and nine marines"

Fireteam: "Consists of four marines"

The math is wrong.

Should be:

Platoon: "Consists of three squads and 43 marines"

Squad: "Consists of three teams and 13 marines"

Fireteam: "Consists of 4 marines"

However, even this is wrong. The Corps has a number of types of platoons. The one described above is a rifle platoon. Should be:

a platoon "Consists of three squads and 43 marines" a squad "Consists of three teams and 13 marines" a Fireteam "Consists of 4 marines"

The rifle platoon number is from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platoon#United_States

"In the United States Marine Corps, infantry rifle platoons nominally (per TO&E) consist of 43 Marines and are led by a platoon commander, usually a second lieutenant (O-1), assisted by a platoon sergeant, a staff sergeant (E-6). The platoon headquarters also includes a platoon guide, a sergeant (E-5), who serves as the assistant platoon sergeant, and a messenger (private or private first class). Rifle platoons consist of three rifle squads of 13 men each, led by a sergeant (E-5)."

The squad number is from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squad#United_States_Marine_Corps

"In the United States Marine Corps, a rifle squad is usually composed of three fireteams of four Marines each and a squad leader who is typically a sergeant or corporal[.]"

Note: it is normally a E-5 sergeant.

The fireteam number is correct.

I know that this number is fluid because the current Commandant is changing the TOE.

Please correct this.
