Retaliation

[edit]

"Mentioning retaliation is neither inappropriate nor unnecessary. It is part of the game and provides context for the situation and a juxtoposition for Korean baseball described herein. Numerous articles (this one and the now linked one included) rightly mention likely retaliation for bat flips"

Stating that retaliation is just commonplace in the US without providing context is absolutely inappropriate and unnecessary, which is why you added context. 152.130.7.65 (talk) 06:49, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly disagree. The context was already there in a previous section in this very article (as I noted in my last response). I only added more context, because you apparently don't look at the article before criticizing. The article before I edited already posits the point about retaliation with the cited quote from Torii Hunter saying that such retaliation is customary and expected in the MLB. My short statement about the customary use of retaliation was merely a brief callback. In my opinion, more than that is overkill and would be unnecessary except to those that don't actually read the articles before criticizing. Seems weird to attack the second mention of the customary nature of retaliation for bat flips rather than the more detailed first statement as "absolutely inappropriate and unnecessary." I merely added the extra link to another article to compromise though I find the link to the unwritten rules of baseball as unnecessary with the context of the quote from Torii Hunter already in the article.
