Prison Hospital Mahara

       It was commenced by British Colonial Government in 1875 inside of the Prison in Gampaha District in Western Province for treating prisoners and staff.Now it is categorized as a Special Hospital under Ministry of HealthIt has five  wards,OutPatient Department,three isolated rooms for communicable diseases, Emergency Treatment Unit as well as Out door and indoor dispensary.Bed strength of the hospital is 135 beds.These wards are allocated as casualty ward,two medical wards,rehabilitation ward, and psychiaric ward      By Dr M H P Kumara 30/11/2015
