Hanbok[edit]

HANBOK (KOREAN TRADITIONAL CLOTHING)

The hanbok (in South Korea) is a traditional Korean Clothing and in North Korea it is called Choson-ot. Hanbok has been an essential part in the lives of Korean since the ancient times. The origins of the hanbok can be traced back to the Goguryeo Dynasty, one of the Three Ancient Kingdoms of Korea. Hanbok has been wore as daily basis in the ancient times but nowadays it is worn in the special occasions and events. There are female hanbok, male hanbok and modern hanbok from the ancient area to the modern area.

There are three types of Hanbok.

                    Female hanbok 

In women's Hanbok, it includes the skirt and the garment. The skirt is wider in the bottom than the upper part like a princess dress. The upper garment is called the Jeogori and there are strings and in front of the garment that will be tied the upper garment into a coat. And it has worn since the ancient times.

                     Male Hanbok 

In men's Hanbok, there also includes upper garment and a pant. The upper garment is different from women's Hanbok and it's like a long coat. And in the bottom, the men wear the pants. Most of the pant are white but the upper garment has different colors.


                       Modern Hanbok

To keep in touch with the world, modern hanboks are becoming an important role in the 21st century. The Korean pop generation started the modern hanbok fashion. Their influence is big not only in Korea but also all around the world. In modern hanboks, colorful patterns and comfortable designs can be found.

                               MODERN HANBOK FASHIONS

In modern hanbok fashions, the traditional, elegant and full body covering outfits is changed into a modern version with short dresses. They are suitable from special occasions to everyday wear. And there are many brands that the people can choose. The modern hanbok brands that are the most popular with Korean celebrities are Leesle, Seorinarae, Danha Seoul, and Zijangsa. Leesle, Danha Seoul and Seorinarae are all more premium modern hanbok brands, but Zijangsa is very affordable.
