Plant names[edit]

Hello and welcome Quer,

There is endless work to be done here on plants. Perhaps you will join in this work on a broader range of plant articles. Plants often have many common names, more so for those as noticable as edible berries, still more for those with related commercial hybrids. You mention that the name “blackcap” is used for boysenberry in your area, demonstrating the complexity of common name use. The Wikipedia custom is to use common names as titles for plant articles rather than the safer scientific names. For this to be successful editors must consider the names carefully as well as relying on the assistance of other users from other places. You might try putting your information into a section for local common names, pointing out the locale where it is heard. Even then, as there is no reference for that particular use to be found on internet, it could be seen as original research. This is only an encyclopedia after all.
