[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit that you made to the page Tower Records has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Please use the sandbox for testing any edits; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing for further information. Thank you. Uncle Dick (talk) 16:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page Tower Records. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Uncle Dick (talk) 16:22, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did with this edit to Tower Records. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Uncle Dick (talk) 16:29, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
This is the final warning that you will receive regarding your disruptive edits, such as this edit you made to Tower Records. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you will be blocked from editing without further notice. --N419BH (talk) 16:30, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Re Tower Records
[edit]Hi, hope you don't mind me dropping by unannounced like this. I noticed you seem to be having some difficulties on the above article - in fact, I saw your edits because someone reported your account for possible vandalism. However, I've looked at the edits and believe that you weren't intentionally disrupting the article content. Unfortunately, you were (unintentionally) falling foul of some Wikipedia editing policies; you were removing sourced content without giving a reason why, then edit-warring (repeating the same edit over and over) with another editor who thought your content removal was vandalism.
I've also seen the note you left for N419BH. Apparently you feel that content ought not to be in the article for accuracy and copyright reasons? If this is the case, you'll need to provide a source that supports your edit; anything that's not common knowledge must be supported by a reliable source. That some of those stores/sites are no longer existent should be easy enough to prove, and of course we don't want to link to anything that contains copyright violations as it could get Wikipedia into legal difficulties. On that last point, you might be better off emailing our OTRS team (link here) if you need quick official action taken, although again you'll need to provide some sort of proof.
What we can't remove is properly sourced information that might be unflattering to the company; Wikipedia is not an attack site, but neither is it a corporate advertising venue, and our editors are very resistant to articles being whitewashed or 'spun'. However, I hope this helps, and feel free to get in touch with me if you need further assistance. My talk page is linked in my signature, or you can post here as I'll watchlist this page. - Thank you - I completely understand and will comply. This has nothing to do with marketing but everything to do with egregious trademark infringement in Ireland, Israel and Colombia. There is no other stores that exist. Unfortunately, until we file legal papers (which is very unfortunate) I will not have proper identification for the purposes of this article. However, considering one of the infringing parties is selling illegal product our reputation is being sullied without merit. rf
- Thank you for the notice on my talk page. My specific reason for removing your edit was removal of sourced content and addition of unsourced content. I highly recommend using the talk page of Tower Records and locating reliable sources. For the management change your website should be suitable (direct specifically to the management page), but for copyright infringements you should locate a reliable third-party source. I will add a notice to the article stating the factual accuracy is currently disputed. Once sources are located, the information can be added to the article. If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page or the admin who sent the above message. Our goal is to have an accurate article, but we need sources to ensure accuracy. Thank you, and I look forward to improving this article. --N419BH (talk) 18:18, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks N419BH! REFTR, for the time being I've moved the disputed content off the article itself and on to the article talk page here. I hope this is satisfactory until such a time as the article can be fully updated. Article talk pages are where we hammer out any content issues with an article, so if you'd like to comment on the talk page thread your input would be most welcome. All the best, EyeSerenetalk 18:34, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Additional: sorry, I should also have mentioned that we have a conflict of interest guideline that advises editors against working on articles about subjects they're intimately connected with. We don't make a big deal of it for new editors who are unaware of how this place works, but in future it might be politic for you to request edits on the article talk page rather than making them yourself (see the guideline for more information).
