DRN
[edit]Small word of advice-- and I promise I'm not being condescending, or intend to come off as such; I do want to be of help. Please remember to be gentle with editors who come to DRN for help. I found your edit summary here, as well as your general demeanor, to be a little harsh towards someone who just wanted some help figuring out how to deal with speedy deletion tags. Even if they were in the wrong venue, just remember that the one thing that unifies people that come to DRN is just that they want some help, and we can provide it, even just by explaining where they need to go if they're not in the right place.
I'm not asking you to agree with my analysis, I just wanted you to be aware-- and I had some advice to give, since I imagine you want to help others as well. BLUSTER⌉⌊BLASTER 18:52, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Apoligies, but lot's of editors use this summary and have not got any bad feedback on it. RMS52 Talk to me 19:14, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I'm not really sure where you're seeing someone use an edit summary like that. Do you mind showing me a diff or two as an example? BLUSTER⌉⌊BLASTER 19:58, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
No problem, [1]. Also, I had contacted the editor before that. And it was not the start of a new thread, the editor had already filed a DRN case but it was closed. RMS52 Talk to me 15:00, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- I understand what the situation at hand on DRN was, but I'll mention that the diff you posted was a completely different place and context-- that was something taking place in an editor's own userspace, and editors generally more leeway with how they address one another in their personal talkpages and subpages. However, in a place like DRN where editors are coming to you and me to try and be the mediator when previous discussion has failed-- and where it's of tantamount importance to maintain a civil and welcoming atmosphere for discussion to take place-- I would say it's appropriate to try to word things more carefully. I used that summary for a reminder, and a calm approach. For example, when an admin answers a question like this...
(User) Can you post messages on editors user pages?
(Admin) No, you post them on their talk pages.
(User) Ok, thanks!
Note that the admins response is similar to mine, if this was a real question, that is exactly what the admin would say. I don't want to argue, but you seem to have misunderstood the way I was taking my edit summary. It is hard to know what a message's humor is online. RMS52 Talk to me 15:22, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not much one for arguing either, but both in and out of context, the edit summary still seemed a little harsh even if that wasn't your intent, and I don't agree that the reasoning you provided, of how an admin answers a question, justified it-- a more apt equivalent of what you did would have been the admin bluntly saying "Don't post on user pages", in response to the question. A "please" to ease the tone a bit, kind of how Jaaron did in a recent revert there, would have been all it needed. But either way, I won't press the issue further. Patalexander didn't seem to take issue with it and has moved on, so no harm done in the end. BLUSTER⌉⌊BLASTER 16:19, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
Yep, no harm done as always. RMS52 Talk to me 18:46, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

[edit]I do understand why you closed this thread. I just didn't know any other way to get the needed information to get pages restored. ==TransporterMan== has provided me with the information on who to contact about each of those pages. Thank you for your help.PatAlexander </span —Preceding undated comment added 19:42, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
No problem, if you want pages restored you can contact an admin. RMS52 Talk to me 14:37, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

I wish to participate in the drn discussion. My view is different from the other three users but there may be room for discussion. Please reopen the prematurely closed discussion because I was not allowed enough time to respond. Tough sailor ouch (talk) 06:03, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
I suggest you contact TransporterMan and ask him if it's ok. RMS52 Talk to me 14:36, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
