archive-it.org[edit]

Hi RSaucier. Why did you add the archive-it.org links to so many articles? Sorry to ask for this, but would you mind removing them and obtaining a consensus before re-adding? These links do not appear consistent with our guideline on external links since they do not provide a unique resource. These appear to be repositories of archived, random links about their subjects with no guidance whatsoever on what they might be used for. They do not provide a unique resource beyond what these articles already provide in their "References" sections. --Dr. Fleischman (talk) 18:57, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DrFleischman: Hi Dr. Fleischman. Sorry for any confusion, I'm a new user. The links I have added are a unique resource in that they are archived versions of the official websites of the organizations. They are meant to complement the live link URLs. In some cases I had added links to general collections but I removed these; all remaining links go directly to the captures of the official website via the wayback machine. So there in fact shouldn't be any 'random' links or links to archive-it.org, but rather to wayback.archive-it.org or web.archive.org RSaucier (talk) 20:24, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
