Carl Jaenisch[edit]

Please stop changing Carl Jaenisch's name to "Ferdinand". Quale (talk) 04:48, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Besides the article by Kentler, I have found additional sources that support "Ferdinand":

http://quilmesescueladeajedrez.blogspot.com/2009/07/carl-jaenisch-el-didacta.html -- Argentinian, from 2009; I do not know what sources it uses; says the registry in the cemetery where he was buried has Ferdinand.
https://www.helsinki.fi/sv/namfonder-for-jubileumsfond -- Swedish-language, list of scholarship funds at University of Helsingfors (Helsinki), includes one named for our man, donated by his sister in 1873 and 1879.
https://www.helsinki.fi/fi/juhlarahaston-nimikkorahastot -- Finnish-language version of the same list.

However, an obituary that appeared in Deutche SchachZeitung, September 1872, gives "Friedrich":

I have not found an explanation for the disagreement. I am not sure that it will be possible to find an explanation, at this late date. Bruce leverett (talk) 03:08, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
