Thanks for comment... ...on the Brokeback Mountain intro. Soon as I get some more feedback I'll make changes. Being cautious 'cause I came into editing the article late in the game, lots of other contributors before me. -- DavidH 21:54, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note too. 'Course I noticed Riverton in your name...didn't say anything cause I wasn't sure it was a reference to Riverton, WY...how do you feel about Riverton as an important setting in BBM? and what's it like there? I'm way far away, have lived in the Florida Keys for 20 years, but originally from Illinois myself. -- DavidH 03:17, 21 April 2006 (UTC) Well, I can't say that I know much about Wyoming since I live in Missouri, but I chose the name because of my love for BBM. I envy you living in the Florida Keys. River 01:44, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, got your message on my talk page. It has been great living in the Keys, best weather and water in the world (far as I know), except now we are freakin' out about hurricanes. I'm too low and close to the ocean. My little sailboat got trashed by Wilma last year. But about Missouri -- I have ancestors from just across the Mississippi from Missouri, in Prairie du Rocher Illinois, south of St. Louis in that area of French towns near st. Genevive. Anyway, cool that you liked BBM and Riverton enough to use it for your username here. If you want to say hi offline, my email is riverfort1 at yahoo (com). -- DavidH 04:37, 22 April 2006 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Rivertonplain"

missing scene[edit]

hi - nice work on Brokeback plot: it's missing the Thanksgiving scene at Alma's family, but I can't recall now exactly when that was - if you do, do you think it should be added? I think it's an important scene because it's when Alma reveals to Ennis that she knew what was going on years before, and shows him that her fury and feelings of betrayal which continue were the reason for the divorce, not his struggles in financially providing for the family. Just a thought. Actually just realized that it's in balance with the earlier Twist Thanksgiving scene - nice parallel. Tvoz |talk 17:42, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Defying Gravity (film)[edit]

Is there some reason why you are ignoring Wikipedia policy and guidelines by adding a plot summary so filled with detail that it implicates the copyright of the film as a derivative work, while at the same time larding the article with useless trivia? Is there some reason why, instead of moving the discussion to the talk page as I politely asked you just revert and accuse me of being rude? Otto4711 (talk) 23:09, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, I am working on this article. Please have the courtesy to allow me to finish my work, and I resent your snitty attitude. Yes, you are rude.--River (talk) 23:10, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You simply revert me before I have a chance to finish copyediting an article that is filled with solecisms and runon sentences.--River (talk) 23:11, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're adding trivial details that add nothing of any significance to the summary and implicate it as a copyright violation. You do not seem to understand how to write about fiction on Wikipedia and I simply asked you to learn somethign about the process before engaging i n it. Sorry that you have decided that my removing your copyright-infringing and trivial additions to the article is "rude" but I'm not responsible in any way for your feeling. I asked you to review WP:NOT#PLOT and discuss on the talk page. Instead of doing that, you seem to prefer trying to initiate an edit war. So please, by all means, continue your "copyediting." When you're finished, I'll go in and make some attempt to salvage it into a worthwhile and policy-compliant work. Clearly, based on what I've seen so far, it will be no easy task. OK.--River (talk) 23:18, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Defying Gravity (film)[edit]

You were rude in reverting me while I was working on this plot summary that was filled with runon sentences. I wonder, though, if in commenting on the story as you say one might be guilty of WP:OR. Please have the courtesy to let me finish.--River (talk) 23:16, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OR appears to be another policy that you don't quite grasp. It is not OR to include a brief (emphasis on "brief") plot summary in an article, because the film itself serves as the source. So please, you finish messing up the article and then I'll clean it up for you. Otto4711 (talk) 23:19, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think that your condescending and patronizing manner is counterproductive.--River (talk) 23:47, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have finished copyediting the plot summary, and I am grateful to you for reminding me of the need for brevity. I see that you are well-qualified as an editor to craft articles on this website. I have seen the film many times, and I was carried away with it to the point that I wanted to share more of its riches with the world. I hope that my contributions have improved the article. It is a labour of love.--River (talk) 02:14, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
