Welcome![edit]

Hello, RoCAChick, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Rockland Center for the Arts, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! May 2015[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Joseph2302. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Rockland Center for the Arts, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. I work for the company, i pulled all the information OFF THE WEBSITE that is ALREADY CITED- I hadn't even finished and you undid ALL the work my boss just asked me to do. PLEASE PUT IT BACK, THANK YOU.

No, because Wikipedia works on reliable sources and you didn't add any. Also, you've just mentioned that you copied it off a website, which is a copyright violation, see WP:COPYVIO. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:43, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IT IS THE WEBSITE OF THE COMPANY I WORK FOR AND THIS PAGE IS ABOUT- DID YOU EVEN LOOK??? IT'S OUR PAGE!!! I WAS UPDATING IT! THERE IS ONLY 1 SOUCE: WWW.ROCKLANDARTCENTER.ORG - it was already cited!

PS- How can i violate copyrights when I wrote and edited half the information on the website?!?

It isn't your web page, it's a Wikipedia article about the company, which anyone is allowed to edit, so long as it complies with Wikipedia policy. And you didn't add any sources, just copying text from your website is not okay. Also, please read WP:COI, and refrain from writing in capital letters, as that implies shouting, which is not assuming good faith. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:54, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try to explain this a little better. The website you are using as a source, www.rocklandartcenter.org, is not cited in the article. It is only listed as an external link. Even if cited, information from that website can not be copied directly to the Wikipedia article because the information on that website is copyrighted. If you look at the bottom of the website, you will see a copyright notice in the lower left corner. Please note that we can not use the text from that website even if you do own the copyright to it unless you specifically release it to us. For us to use it, the text must be released under the CC BY-SA 3.0 license or another compatible license. Sperril (talk) 21:26, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
