Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

Request reason:

Hi Orangemike, could you please tell me why you have deleted my page? This is the first time I have added a page to Wikipedia so apologies if I have done something incorrectly. This page is not promotional as per the block reason. Roy Walker (artist) is my grandfather who was a well known artist in Cornwall, UK. Decline reason:

If you can write substantial articles full of such prose as "Roy Walker had made a huge contribution to the arts in Cornwall and particularly St. Ives where he achieved an impressive reputation..." and sincerely not see it as promotional, then you probably lack the ability to stand back from your subject and write about it from a detached and objective point of view, which is what is required for editing Wikipedia. Request reason:

As per my previous message, this was my first article that I had written on Wikipedia so apologies that the style is incorrect but how do I get the opportunity to amend this if it is not unblocked and not given direction? RoyWalkerArt (talk) 21:00, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

wanted to write a page about Roy Walker Artist so chose this username, this was construed to be promotional so would like to change username to same as I use for many accounts, in the hope that I have the opportunity to change my article to not be seen as promotional as it was not intended to be.
