February 2015[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm McGeddon. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the page Sisyphus, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Commercial links are discouraged by WP:LINKSTOAVOID. There is a world of difference between wikilinking to a fully sourced article about a work by Camus, and externally linking to a site where you can buy a recently released self-published novel. --McGeddon (talk) 14:33, 27 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Assume good faith, we're all here to build an encyclopedia and every good Wikipedia editor is happy to defer to consensus. By all means raise a talk page thread explaining why you think that linking to the website of (your own?) recently self-published novel does not fall under "individual web pages that primarily exist to sell products or services" or "links mainly intended to promote a website" of WP:LINKSTOAVOID. --McGeddon (talk) 09:57, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You've misunderstood the purpose of Wikipedia to some extent, if you think it's partly for writers to be able to publicise their own self-published novels. --McGeddon (talk) 22:34, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

December 2022[edit]

Information icon Hi Rpeate! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Throast {{ping}} me! Okay, I thank you! Rpeate (talk) 01:12, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
