Hi, thanks for correcting the Pentagon height back to the correct value of 77 ft. Back in Janaury 2018, a user (I think she may have been an admin) changed the height to 71 ft incorrectly. A few weeks later, a conspiracy theory Youtuber called Gematrinator made a video and article about it, and made a few false claims alongside the height change. This also caused another IP user to correct the height to 77 ft, but also included some terms including "Stop Lying to us" and other terms involving Zionists. This, of course, would be a violation of Wikipedia's policies, it was not the correct way to reverse the height change. I believe this user also got banned as a result. I tried in 2019 (it was a different IP address) to change it back using the talk page. It didn't quite work out. The height stayed wrong for a good 4 years until you edited it. Good Job! Also, I want to point out another building height change on Wikipedia, that being Trump Tower's height being changed from 666 ft tall to 664 ft tall, I think, in 2016. However, I have more confidence in the new height in this one, the website Emporis lists a height of 664 ft, the last time I checked. Another conspiracy theorist did post it on his website though, that's how I found out. I also want to point out that both these building height changes had significant numbers in 666 and 77. Either way, I think there needs to be a proper discussion about this, and validate what exactly caused users to change these building heights. Also, not long ago, I read an article on CNN that the Eiffel Tower is now 20 ft taller. However, this is different, because there was a mainstream news article, something that didn't happen with the other 2 height changes.68.96.163.210 (talk) 00:06, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
- I didn't realize there was such a long history of height changes. I was doing some research on government buildings and looked at numerous government and military websites that cite the 77ft tall Pentagon. I wondered how it could be wrong on Wikipedia, being that it's such an easy measurement to find. Previously there wasn't a source cited with the height, so I added one. Maybe now that it's cited, it will always remain correct. Also, that's interesting about Trump Tower and the Eiffel Tower. I feel like something weird is going on with the admin here.
