Mick Fleetwood

No problem, there are no deadlines here :) Just as well, in my case. Yes, I'm a big Fleetwood Mac fan, initially of the Peter Green era, but then I stretched off into the later stuff and the various solo careers. On Wikipedia, most of my work has been with the earlier members, but I keep an eye on everything Mac-related. I met Fleetwood once, though it was only a quick handshake and a hello. I'm also from Redruth, where he was born. Small world! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:53, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

It is, I'm in Devon myself. I'll risk the label of bandwagon jumper to say that the Fleetwood Mac, Mirage, Tusk and Rumours era is my preferred, but I do like their earlier work too. Mick seems to be a guy one can relate to, seems reasonably without pretence.
I'm not as educated a fan as I could be, I'll admit. I possess an album of a load of their blues ones, Albatross, Fleetwood Mac (the second one), Future Games, Mirage, Rumours, Tango in the Night, Tusk, and their two volume live compilation Live in Boston - what others might you recommend to someone who prefers their later work to their earlier stuff? You're certainly in very good company – the bulk of their fans do concentrate on that 1975–87 era. Mick can be a bit of a drama queen, but he's a very straight-forward guy, and I think very honest about himself. He certainly kept the band going single-handedly at a number of points in their history.
OK, let's think. I'd recommend Say You Will as the one studio album you don't have that has both Stevie and Lindsey on board. You might like Behind the Mask, but Lindsey's not on that and some of Burnette & Vito's songs are a bit ordinary. You might want to avoid Time (although I like it) because it's quite un-Fleetwood Mac-ish with no Stevie or Lindsey. The Dance is a popular live album, probably slightly better than the earlier one. If you like Future Games, you might like Bare Trees. I'd also say Mystery to Me has a decent selection of Christine's earlier stuff, including "Why", which is one of her best songs. Heroes Are Hard to Find has more good Christine stuff and some trippy, funky Bob Welch songs. Of the Green era stuff, Then Play On is the easiest to get into, and the least bluesy (no Jeremy Spencer). Kiln House is patchy; Kirwan's stuff is good, Spencer's not so much. Penguin is not bad but not essential :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:53, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestions! Just gone and picked up Say You Will after listening to it on last.fm. I think the solid soft-rock with a hint of blues that you get on Rumours and Fleetwood Mac is my favourite style, though I also like the rhythmic songs from Tusk, like the title track, Not That Funny, etc. Looking forward to my latest purchase now! Any time! Last.fm is great for trying out new stuff before buying, I use it a fair bit. Enjoy the album! Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:52, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Mick Fleetwood again

Hi! Jenny Boyd's affair with Weston was definitely 1973, on tour after Mystery to Me. Weston was fired immediately and the rest of the tour was cancelled. That's when the whole fake Mac thing started. Fleetwood and Boyd were divorced in 1974, I think. Weston was well off the scene by 1975 and I think I recall him saying he never saw her again after he was fired. Boyd moved to the US where Mac had moved, and she and Fleetwood remarried in 1976 and divorced again some time after that. That may be where the confusion arises. When or why the second divorce took place, I have no idea! But I think the second marriage only lasted a year or two, because Boyd went off with the drummer from King Crimson, and Fleetwood took up with Stevie Nicks. That must have been about 1978. It's a bit of a minefield – Boyd & Fleetwood's relationship was at least as difficult as the McVies or Buckingham/Nicks, perhaps more so! Bretonbanquet (talk) 01:19, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Okay. Think I've got it right. Really need more sources to help work on it. S.G.(GH) ping! 13:16, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
