My name is Sam Hampson, I’m 16 years old and currently live in Middlesbrough. I was born January 4th 1992 in St James Cook Hospital and moved to Gretna Green just on the border of Scotland a week after. I went to Gretna Primary School until I was 11 in 2003; I then moved to Middlesbrough and attended St Peters College of Maths and Computing. In my last year of school in year 11, I put together a full feature film starring my teachers, classmates and myself. It was very successful and I got amazing feedback from all students and teachers alike. I made it because since it was our last year, we needed a bit of fun so i decided to set the film in motion. I got a cast of students and teachers together and filmed it roughly in 3 months. Because of GCSE exams, I could not make a complex story, so I went with a simple comedy storyline. When I watch it, I still think of things I could have improved on, such as camera angles, plot line and dialogue. The whole film was rushed into production, so I did much of it in my spare time after school; there were a few problems while making it, such as people not turning up for filming and especially the cleaners.

Every time we filmed after school, they were either hoovering in the background, which the camera picked up the noises, or they would walk right in front of the camera as we were filming. Since the film was a comedy, we had many, many laughs. The most funny being the teachers meeting scene, were the Deputy Head Teacher informed the teachers of Vampires in the school. All teachers could not take him seriously and burst out laughing especially the Media / English Teacher, who went bright red after every take.

I used a special effects program called FX Home Effects Lab, which was a great help to me which gave the film a professional look and feeling in every scene. On the whole the film was a magnificent success. I first started making videos in June 2006; I was very technical as a child so it wasn’t a huge step into making YouTube films. I currently have 93 videos; most of my early ones are not as good as the ones I now make now. But I still get really great feedback from every video but the worst videos I’ve done were two Jackass films that were so embarrassing I took them off my YouTube account. They got the worst ratings and some terrible comments, mostly from people who disliked out so called ‘stunts’.

I have recently filmed and edited two weddings fro family friends; they were amazed at how I was able to do it and such a young age. I find it to be funny how people are easily amazed at my videos, but to be honest; anyone can do it if they try hard enough. I’ve also made a few cartoons but haven’t made them on YouTube because they are too personal to put on, most people wouldn’t get the jokes as only the members of my family would know them. My dream is to be a Director/Actor; I have lots of support from Family, Friends and even my Teachers at my school. They believe in me to do what I want to do, the feedback I get boosts me into doing more and whenever I get negative comments, I always go back on the positive, because there are always more positive than negative.

This is about me and my films, i would like to tell companies about my work
